For the past 18 months solidarity activists have been organising to protest outside prisons, government ministries and media outlets in support of those imprisoned for direct action in solidarity with Palestine, as well as sending them cards and letters by the sackload. FRFI comrades have attended many of these protests, and we have sent cards, books and copies of our paper to the prisoners. Despite frequent censorship, some issues of the paper got through to most of the prisoners, with others contacting us on release to say that they had received a bundle of copies as they left the prison. One recently released prisoner told us that reading FRFI gave them ‘a comprehensive and sobering overview, but ultimately galvanising, and helped me to feel grounded in a movement that will never die’.
FRFI sends the newspaper to all prisoners who request it free of charge and continues to report consistently on the struggles behind bars. Please support our work by funding a subscription for a prisoner.
