Monday 29 June was the sixth day of Sarah’s trial. The end of this crucial case is fast approaching but we do not yet have a verdict. Tomorrow we need everyone who supports the democratic right to defend the Palestinian struggle to show up at court!
This morning the judge delivered his final summing up. The jury was then sent out to consider the evidence they had heard and determine if Sarah is guilty of terrorism for the speech she made on 9 October 2023, supporting the lawful right of the Palestinian people to armed self-defence. Three hours later they had not reached a conclusion so were sent home for the day. The jurors will be back in court tomorrow to continue deliberating. As will Sarah and her supporters both inside and outside the court. Join us! We will be there from 10am until there is a verdict in the case.
Today, as on every day of the trial, comrades from the Defend SOAS 2 campaign and Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism! kept up a strong presence outside the court, proclaiming clearly that Resistance is not Terrorism and that we Defend the right to defend Palestine. On today’s protest we were joined by members of the Spartacist League, the Socialist Equality Party, Punks against apartheid, Newham Trades Council and the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants.
Since forming the Defend SOAS 2 campaign over a year ago, we have supported many similar campaigns for pro-Palestine activists criminalised by the Zionist British state. Sarah has spoken at protests, rallies and events across the country. Now is the time for everyone who supports free speech on Palestine to stand with Sarah!
Come to the Old Bailey Central Criminal Court tomorrow, Tuesday 30 June from 10am. An injury to one is an injury to all!
