SOAS 2 trial: court hears Sarah’s testimony

Today, Wednesday 24 June, was Day Three of our comrade Sarah’s trial under the Terrorism Act 2000 for a speech she made at her university in October 2023.

Sarah is now on the stand, giving evidence to the court in her defence. This will conclude tomorrow.

Outside the court, as on the previous days of the trial, protesters chanted and made speeches in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle for national liberation, and with those in Britain, like Sarah and the 8 members of the Filton 25 also appearing at the Old Bailey, who are criminalised for their support for that struggle.

Comrades from Birmingham, Brighton, Manchester, Liverpool and Nottingham came to join the protest which today centred around the theme of political prisoners, with a range of speakers on this topic, and a teach-in on historic prison struggles. We also received solidarity from the academics assembled at SOAS for the conference British Society for Middle Eastern Studies, who held up signs saying ‘Defend the SOAS 2 – drop the charges now!’

The trial continues on Thursday. We will be protesting from 11am. Come and join us.  An injury to one, is an injury to all! Defend the right to defend Palestine!
