On Saturday 18 October, supporters of Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism! from across Britain successfully executed a rolling picket of imperialist financial and corporate interests on Oxford Street, London, denouncing and exposing the multinational corporations complicit in the genocide of the Palestinian people.
The rolling picket targeted major enterprises and financial institutions whose profits are derived from imperialist plunder and neo-colonial exploitation, and who make billions off the genocide of the Palestinian people. These include the notorious high-street banks and multinational retail outlets that thrive on the super-exploitation of the global working class as well as the mouthpieces of British imperialism, like the BBC. Businesses and banks picketed included Zara, McDonalds, Google and HSBC. Several businesses were forced to close their doors to business.
Israel’s Tel Aviv stock exchange has seen a 179% growth in equity prices since October 2023, and the British state is protecting the bloody profits of dispossession and murder. As anti-imperialists, as anti-racists, as Communists, it is our obligation to expose the brutality of imperialism, and denounce the British high-street brands which embody it. FRFI demands immediate and comprehensive sanctions on the Israeli state, breaking the links between Britain and Israel, and isolating the Zionist state internationally.
The rolling picket ended with a solidarity rally at the embassy of the Republic of Cuba, a longstanding ally of the Palestinian people in their struggle for national liberation. Cuba has suffered for six decades under a genocidal blockade perpetrated by the United States, and despite this has continued in its solidarity with the Palestinian people, and all people suffering the brunt of imperialism. Solidarity with Cuba and the Cuban revolution is another vital task for anti-imperialists living in the belly of the beast.
