DESCRIPTION:After the jury refused to convict Sarah in her trial earlier th
 is year in June\, the CPS has insisted on a retrial despite there being no
  prospect of conviction and the case not being in the public interest. We 
 demand that the Crown Prosecution Service drops all charges against Sarah 
 and discontinues all its investigations in relation to alleged Terrorism A
 ct offences against the other student. Sarah\, A SOAS University of London
  student\, had been charged\, and another SOAS student arrested\, under Se
 ction 12 of the Terrorism Act for ‘inviting support for a proscribed org
 anisation’ back in March of 2025.🇵🇸 Their supposed crime was to ha
 ve made speeches on behalf of the SOAS Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism! so
 ciety in October 2023 supporting the Palestinian right to self-determinati
 on. This is part of the intensification of suppression of free speech on t
 he issue of Palestine. The right to express any support for the Palestinia
 n struggle for national liberation is at stake in this case. The alleged T
 errorism offence carries a penalty of up to 14 years in prison.This calcul
 ated targeting of two young Palestine protesters is an attempt to intimida
 te and censor any expression of support for the Palestinian freedom strugg
 le. It is an attack on the entire solidarity movement.📍 United Nations 
 General Assembly resolution 37/43 of 3 December 1982 and the Geneva Conven
 tions Protocol 1 explicitly give the Palestinians and all oppressed people
 s the right to resist their oppressors by any available means including ar
 med struggle. A conviction in this case would have devastating consequence
 s for freedom of speech in Britain. It would mean that anyone expressing s
 upport for the right of oppressed peoples to resist racism\, colonialism a
 nd occupation could be tried under terrorism legislation.DEFEND THE SOAS 2
