Electricians block Oxford Street and protest – 5 Oct 2011

At the end of July, multinational construction companies wrote to electricians to annouce that they are withdrawing from the National Working Agreements in order to drive down conditions and pay – the worst-hit will see their wages cut by 35%. Up and down the country electricians are organising in an inspiring way, pushing Unite, the union, to back their actions, determined that illegal or legal, official or unofficial, their voices will be heard and civil disobedience will escalate.

In London, the weekly 6.30am Wednesday demonstrations by electricians and their supporters, including Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism!, continue.
