The government and opposition have spouted their stand on the British ‘free press’ in recent months after Extinction Rebellion blocked Murdoch’s printing presses.
The notion that Britain has a free press is a joke. Murdoch, Sky and the government BBC are not a free or fair press.
At the same time Labour was spouting that RT and Press TV should be stopped from broadcasting in Britain while screaming that XR were stopping free speech!
Now, after my waiting for early release by the ‘independent’ Parole Board for nearly two years, the counter-terrorism police unit and the Secretary of State’s representative want two extra licence conditions: 1) not to speak to the media directly or indirectly; 2) not to speak to or contact any individuals or organisations that can be considered ‘extreme’.
I ask what press freedom and what free speech is there in Britain? This is political policing and a descent into a neo-liberal police state.
The government and police are now deeming everything not in their world view ‘extremist’ and gagging any dissent. Welcome to the dystopian future.
