The Revolutionary Communist Group – for an anti-imperialist movement in Britain

Nottingham RCG protests against censorship of Palestinian solidarity

Nottingham RCG and supporters protest outside M&S

On Saturday 24 Nov Nottingham Revolutionary Communist group and supporters picketed outside Marks and Spencer to show solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinian people, to highlight the Labour Party’s betrayal of the Palestinian struggle and to say that Zionism is racism. M&S is a British company that has a long and continuing history of support for Zionism (see FRFI 160, ‘Marks & Spencer: ally of Israel’)

The IHRA definition is an attempt to literally criminalise solidarity with Palestine, by making the false allegation that it is anti-Semitic to say that that Israel is a racist, colonialist endeavour. We have to fight this if we are to build a movement in solidarity with Palestine in Britain.

The Labour party adopted the full IHRA definition in October and all Labour-run councils are expected to write it into local law. Other RCG branches having already engaged in battles over its adoption by their local authorities. Nottingham RCG supporters are organising now against any future attempt by Nottingham City Council to adopt the definition.
