Trial #2, day #4
Today was the fourth day of the case against Sarah Cotte of the SOAS 2. Sarah concluded her evidence, standing her ground against a fierce prosecution cross-examination, and strongly maintaining her principled anti-Zionist, anti-racist and anti-imperialist stance.
After Sarah’s own testimony, the court heard from a succession of character witnesses. Both via written statement and by means of live evidence, the jury was told by professors, family members, friends, employers and her landlord how this young woman being spuriously prosecuted on terrorism charges is a person of exceptional intelligence, honesty and integrity.
Tomorrow the prosecution and defence will make their closing speeches, and the jury will go out to begin its deliberations. As has been the case all week, supporters of the SOAS 2 Defence Campaign and Revolutionary Communist Group/Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism! will mobilise outside the court. We stand in unwavering solidarity with our comrade and in opposition to all criminalisation of supporters of the risen people of occupied Palestine in their righteous struggle against settler-colonialism and genocide.
Our protests are run on an inclusive, non-sectarian basis and all supportive organisations and individuals are welcome – bring your banners, placards, literature, speak out on our open mic – stand with us and Sarah until victory!
Join us at the Old Bailey Central Criminal Court from 10am on Friday 18 September. Follow @defendsoas for updates
